Which direction am I walking and what time was it when I took this photo? You should be able to figure it out.
This is the shortest day of the year. Every day from now on brings more sunlight.

You got it. The sun is directly south so the shadow points north. It's not EXACTLY noon, though, right? The shadow is slightly off to the east. So it's a little past noon, maybe 12:30 or even 1 p.m. Actually, it was 12:45 p.m. I think it's pretty amazing how accurately you can tell the time by the sun.
